When Jesus said, ”Go into all the world and make disciples,” he was not talking to a select few. He was actually commissioning every believer throughout history to participate in bringing the good news of the Kingdom to every community on earth. This “Great Commission” was not given as an optional activity or a suggestion. It was Jesus’ final words to us before He left the earth. Today, He sits at the right hand of the Father watching and waiting until the day He returns. What is He waiting for? In Matthew, Jesus told us that “this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.” We hope to activate every believer in the task of reaching the world – starting in our own city and extending to the far corners of the earth. How can you participate in the task of reaching the world? PRAY - Join us as we pray during our monthly Every Nation prayer meeting for specific people groups, nations, and missionaries. Go onto the global Every Nation site for monthly prayer updates and needs SEND - Become a partner by supporting missionaries GO - Join us on one of our cross-cultural adventures across the globe to serve missionaries and share the love of Jesus! RECEIVE - Participate in outreaches to those God has brought to our doorstep right here in Christchurch Pray for the nations "...for My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations." - Isaiah 56:7 Throughout our auditorium, you will see the flags of many nations. However, the flags do not serve merely as decorations. They hang there to remind us that Jesus Christ died to save all people. These flags represent our desire to see every nation transformed by the Gospel. They remind us that we have been left with a mission — to tell all people, everywhere the good news of Jesus Christ! As a church, we participate in the Great Commission through giving to missionaries, going on mission trips, reaching out to our community, and praying for the nations. Each month we will highlight a nation represented by one of the flags in our sanctuary including country facts and major prayer points. Let’s join together through prayer and ask God to make Himself known among the nations! Community Outreach Our High School group ‘Rush’ has initiated a community food bank. If you would like to donate non-perishable food items, please drop them off in the available baskets on Sunday mornings, or at Rush on Friday nights. If you would like to help in distributing the food, please contact us. Mission Trips Our desire is to be a church that is regularly sending teams on short term missions. It is our hope that your participation on a mission trip will be just one of many introductions you have to the richness of God’s nature and character. One of a mission trip’s greatest joys comes from experiencing God’s diversity revealed through another culture. We can only see God in new ways when we purposefully step out of our everyday life and see things through the lens of another’s point of view. We trust these mission trip experiences will not only open your eyes to see the greatness of God, but also expose you to the amazing work of the Holy Spirit happening around the world today. You will see God at work not only around you but also in you! God has called each of us to live by faith – to do things that can only be accomplished with the help of the Holy Spirit and each other. Each one of us have been called to a life-long “mission” journey – that doesn’t end or begin with a single mission trip. We each must follow Christ in our “mission” journey called life by reaching out and loving those with whom we come in contact daily. Mission trips will help you grow spiritually and equip you to walk out journey by faith. Mission trips allow you the unique opportunity to walk closely with other Christians and accomplish something great for God – together. One thing is guaranteed, if you choose to go, your life and your perspective will never be the same again!
